Who doesn’t love an impromptu make up mini haul while in the supermarket? It allows me to slip a few sneaky purchases into my food shop without feeling like I’ve splurged.
The Collection brand is now a strong budget beauty favourite with everyone from teen girls experimenting with their first taste of make up, through to beauty editors stocking up on cult favourites such as the top selling lasting perfection concealer.
With a few offers and new products in the current range, my eye was immediately drawn to the recently launched Deluxe Collection. The Deluxe lipsticks to be precise, because, well I guess you’ve figured out that I am a tad partial to a lipstick (ridiculous understatement of the year!). I zoomed in on the pinky-purple Bonnie shade (08) [swatches of my purchases below]. The shade is perfect with my slightly yellow toned skin and will lift Autumn, earth toned outfits. I am picturing camel coat, layered over a chocolate coloured roll neck and rust wide leg trousers. The texture is balm like, with a subtle shine and the packaging, slick for its £4 price tag. I will be going back for more shades, for sure.
As the majority of the female population, I am forever in search of the perfect nude lipstick. I have about a million. Liquid, cream, gloss and bullet lipsticks. But there’s always room for one more, right? Collection Lasting Colour in shade Rose Wood (21). I’m not keen on nudes that are too light, they seem to make me look ill and washed out. This one is the perfect tone – not too light, not too dark and smooth on the lips. As it is meant to be long lasting, I’ll report back on its longevity. Maybe I’ll wear it to work tomorrow to test it out. £3.
Next up, a new brow product to the range – Define & Perfect Eyebrow Powder in Brunette (2). I have terribly patchy brows that are far from symmetrical. In fact, I once heard that brows are not meant to be twins but sisters, even with this in mind, mine are more distant cousins than sisters! I’m hoping this will allow me to shape and fill my brows, while keeping them looking natural. I can dream! Currently on offer at £3.
What does a girl do when she cannot find the perfect shade of orange-y brown eyeshadow? Buy a bronzer of course! I think I have spent the last 5 years trying to find an eyeshadow that even comes close to an old Lancôme shade I had in one of their gift with purchase palettes. I’ve tried loads of brands and formulations but always been disappointed so started to think if there were other make up items as an eyeshadow instead. This Collection Bronze Glow Matt in Terracotta (1) caught my eye. At a whopping 15g for £3, if it’s a success it will be beyond doubt the cheapest eyeshadow I have ever bought!
Finally, I was in desperate need for a new cream blush. I like to wear quite a bright blush to show off my high cheek bones, so I went for Collection Speedy Blush in Cheeky (02). I like the pigmentation and chunky packaging. I’ll be throwing this one in my handbag for a quick face brightening touch up throughout the day. £4.
