It’s official, nude palettes are everywhere. Every brand has their version, and every girl needs at least one of this multitaskers in her makeup bag.
Obviously, the Urban Decay Naked palettes have had the most hype, but they’re not cheap. Luckily, the high street brand such as L’Oreal, Maybelline and even Collection have got in on the act and are offering lust worthy nude palettes from as little as £3.99.
At £9.99, I plumped for Maybelline’s ‘The Nudes’ Palette. The mix of matte and shimmery shades appealed to me, along with the super light and dark shades which I can use to highlight or line the eye.
The colours in this palette are so flattering, particularly for me the bronzy (is that a word??) tones which seem to really bring out the blue in my eyes. I have heard some complain about the lighter colours being too light, personally, I don’t agree. The lighter shimmery shades, yes, are light but they are perfect for highlighting in the inner corner of the eye and under the brow bone. Similarly, the matte, black shadow is fantastic for lining the eye, if like me, you are utterly appalling at using eye liners!
You can get so many looks out of this palette, I feel it is fantastic value and the colours go on and blend really lovely when used with a brush. Do not however, use the foam-type applicator that comes with the palette. You just can’t achieve the finish with this type of applicator and it’s well worth investing in a couple of good eye shadow brushes (I use ecotools eye enhancing duo brushes). Here’s some swatches for you to see the colours in natural daylight, no filters – first picture is the top row and second picture, the bottom row, of the palette.
There is a fab link here to the Maybelline site, where you will find tips on how to use the palette as duos, trios and quads to create the ultimate nude look for you.
